JAKARTA, July 9 (Xinhua) -- The Indonesian government will lobby the U.S. government for maintaining special tariff treatment for some of Indonesian exported products, a senior official said here Monday.

Indonesia looks for persistence of implementation of generalized system of preference (GSP) facilities on its 124 exported products to the United States, said Oke Nurwan, director general for foreign trade at Indonesian trade ministry.

"We will send a team to the United States for negotiation, so that the imposition of the GSP facility can be persisted," he said.

The plan was made in the wake of the U.S. review of eligibility of the GSP facilities to the country in April.

According to Nurwan, Indonesian lobbyists are likely to leave for the United States later this month.

Indonesian exports to the United States stand at about 17.8 billion U.S. dollars annually, most of which comprise textile, furniture and timber, according to the trade ministry.
