LUSAKA, July 11 (Xinhua) -- Zambian President Edgar Lungu and his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan pledged to enhance the already warm bilateral ties, Zambian government said Tuesday in a statement.

The two leaders held bilateral talks in Turkey's capital Ankara where Lungu attended Erdogan's inauguration ceremony.

The Zambian leader said in the statement that his counterpart expressed his desire to improve diplomatic and trade relations between the two countries during the high-level talks.

Lungu said Turkish private sector voiced willingness to invest in Zambia.

"We are already working with some private partners like in the energy sector. I have said in the past quoting some scholars who have said that there is no finishing line to development. I think mankind keeps developing. So in tourism, Turkey has done very well and in agriculture," he said.

According to Lungu, Zambia's tourism and agriculture sectors are on the right development path and the sectors could record more growth through close cooperation with Turkey.

Zambia is eager to learn best practices from Turkey, especially in the agricultural sector, he said, adding that his country is seeking partnership to boost industrialization in order to add value to raw materials.
