BEIRUT, Feb. 6 (Xinhua) -- Differences among Lebanese leadership have been resolved and the government is planning to take actions to counter any threats from Israel, said a statement released by the presidential office Tuesday.

Addressing Israel's threats against Lebanon's security and oil, the statement said "Israeli threats are flagrant violations to UN Resolution 1701 and directly threaten stability prevailing on the border area since 2006."

"We will continue to take actions at various regional and international levels to prevent Israel from building the cement wall and its potential encroachment on the oil and gas in Lebanese territorial waters," it added.

"A series of actions will be presented to the High Defense Council at an extraordinary meeting to be held tomorrow afternoon, with a view to taking appropriate decisions to prevent Israeli encroachment and prevent any security deterioration in the border area," it concluded.

The statement came after a meeting at the Baabda Palace between Lebanese President Michel Aoun, Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri and Prime Minister Saad Hariri, in a bid to ease political tensions among Lebanon's leadership.

The statement stressed that Lebanon's civil peace "should not be threatened by the political differences."

The officials also agreed to adhere to the National Pact agreement to preserve national coexistence and to reject any threats against civil peace.

Berri, who left the hall with a smile on his face, told reporters at the Presidential Palace that the meeting was "productive."

Calling the meeting as "positive," Hariri also hailed the outcome of the meeting and said that the country's leadership will cooperate for the interest of the Lebanese.

He assured that the differences between Berri and Aoun have been resolved.

The meeting came several days after Aoun held phone talks with Berri at the premier's request aiming at easing rising tensions between supporters of the two top officials of the country.

Tensions have been rising between supporters of Aoun and Berri, following a leaked video footage showing Lebanese Foreign Minister Gebran Bassil, who is also Aoun's son-in-law, calling Berri a "thug."

Describing Lebanon's efforts in exploring gas in Block Nine as "provocative," Israeli Defense Minister Avigdor Lieberman claimed in a latest statement that the gas field "is by all means ours."
