Firefighters inspect desert poplars to prevent forest fire risks in Xinjiang

Heatwaves sweep the Tarim Basin every summer, and the temperature reached over 45 degrees Celsius here in this June. Situated at the border of Tarim Basin,Yuli County is exposed to the threat of forest fires. In order to prevent this risk, a batch of selected firefighters have done their firefighting work for years. They shuttle in wide expanse of desert poplars to protect the area. (Xinhua/Zhao Ge)
